At Théâtre St-Denis at Espace St-Denis until April 14, and at Théâtre Capitole de Québec from June 27 to July 14, 2024
Presented for the very first time in Quebec, the musical comedy Les Producteurs, starring the incomparable Serge Postigo, made its dazzling Montreal debut last night at the Théâtre St-Denis at Espace St-Denis, where it runs until April 14. Praised by the critics, Les Producteurs also delighted audiences who turned out in force to applaud this stage adaptation of Mel Brooks' cinematic masterpiece, the most awarded show in Broadway history with 12 Tony Awards. This is a smashing kick-off for Les Producteurs, a unique opportunity for Quebec audiences to witness this international triumph in Montreal at the Théâtre St-Denis de l'Espace St-Denis until April 14, and in Quebec City at the Théâtre Capitole de Québec from June 27 to July 14, 2024.
“Deliciously irreverent and scabrous, but above all downright hilarious, the Quebec version of the musical The Producers is as much a tribute to the bright lights of Broadway as it is to the genius of Mel Brooks.” - Bruno Lapointe, Le Journal de Montréal
“A satire of the entertainment industry and the American dream, Les Producteurs is a timeless show. The production quality is impeccable! This Quebec version compares with the best on Broadway and elsewhere.” - Luc Boulanger, La Presse
“A high-quality musical with a Quebec flavor! Hats off to Serge Postigo!”
- Caroline Legault, 98,5 FM - Puisqu'il faut se lever
“A musical that has nothing to envy Broadway. Solid performers, costumes, sets, music, a flawless adaptation and Serge Postigo at the top of his game as director. Don't miss Les Producteurs! - Patrick Delisle-Crevier, 7 Jours
“High-flying! It's great to see artists unleash their madness, without compromise. Serge Postigo is breathtaking!” - Isabelle Perron, TVA / LCN
This Gestev production, presented in association with Music Theatre International New York, features no fewer than 21 artists. Serge Postigo, who adapted and directed the show for Quebec, also reprises the lead role of Max Bialystock, a character he played with brio for almost two years in Paris in front of over 300,000 spectators. He is joined by the talented Tommy Joubert (Leopold Bloom), Marianne Orlowski (Ulla Inga Hansen), Benoît Finley (Roger De Brie), Jean-Luke Côté (Carmen Ghia) and Thiéry Dubé (Franz Liebkind).
The musical The Producers tells the story of a once-successful Broadway producer on the verge of bankruptcy. One day, however, a shy young accountant strolls into his office and unwittingly comes up with the idea of an investor scam to replenish his coffers. To do this, they have to put on the worst musical of all time, finding the worst writer, the worst director and the most indigestible actors and actresses. But nothing goes according to plan, and the duo learn that while chasing success can lead to failure, chasing failure can sometimes lead to success... in spite of themselves.
